‘WHY CASHMERE, IS IT REALLY WORTH THE EXPENSE?’
My answer is always, not surprisingly, an unequivocal YES!
Cashmere is one of the most valuable natural products. It is a luxurious fibre made from the most delicate wool and with wear and care the softer it becomes. A cashmere product which is loved and taken care of, can be in your wardrobe forever.
OUR CASHMERE
Our cashmere products are made in Mongolia, known worldwide as ‘Land of the Blue Sky’.
The Mongolian goat (Capra Hircus) has adapted to life in the central Asian harsh winters – reaching temperatures up to 40 degrees centigrade – with its down hair coat to keep it warm.
Most of the down hair consists of long, fine, soft and shiny cashmere fibres producing the best quality cashmere.
WHAT IS SUPERIOR CASHMERE?
Some manufacturers try to save a few pounds by blending inferior short hair cashmere from other countries with superior cashmere. The combing of the fibres in just the right way and the setting of the looms to just the right tolerances is hugely important and produces superior cashmere.
If not done correctly the fabric will be coarse and lose its magical feel and produce inferior cashmere.
A LITTLE SECRET
There is also ‘a little secret’ to the world’s finest cashmere, as told to me by my manufacturer and that is ‘JOY’. The best cashmere is made by ‘happy goats’, this has always made me smile. When you are wrapped in our beautiful cashmere you can thank the joyful Mongolian goats!
When goats are penned and placed in factory farming conditions, they release stress hormones that produce coats of inconsistent and inferior quality. The joy for a Mongolian goat is wandering the open plains of Mongolia with their family.
THE HERDERS: THE JOY OF CASHMERE
Nomadic Mongolian herdsmen learned this secret thousand of years ago. The have found their joy, roaming the plains of Mongolia with their goats in search of the best wild grasslands to graze.
We thank you for sharing the ‘joy of cashmere’ – the people of Mongolia are warm hearted and generous people full of gratitude to all who visit their country.
With Love & Gratitude
